Breaking Down Employment Barriers for Minority Ethnic Women

Our Minority Ethnic Women’s Project supports women seeking to return to work and progress into employment that reflects their skills, experience and aspirations after time out of the workplace.

The project responds to persistent structural barriers faced by many minority ethnic women, including underemployment, insecure work and limited access to progression opportunities, despite strong qualifications and the right to work. Our approach recognises that these challenges are not individual failings, but the result of systemic inequality within the labour market.

Drawing on our established experience delivering inclusive employability and workplace programmes, the project combines tailored support for participants with engagement with employers committed to fair and inclusive practice. Participants build confidence, strengthen employability and leadership capability, and develop networks that support sustainable employment outcomes.

Our previous programmes have demonstrated strong outcomes, with a significant proportion of participants moving into paid employment or progression opportunities within months of completing support.

Outcomes and Impact

The project aims to increase confidence, employability and economic security for participating women, while supporting employers to strengthen inclusive recruitment and progression practices.

Together, this contributes to improved employment outcomes, reduced poverty and more equitable workplaces.
